Most investors love economic and market forecasts. In times of uncertainty and volatility, our brains crave some idea of what the future holds. Yet, economies and markets are inherently unpredictable—a fact proven by the inability of anyone to consistently predict them with accuracy.
For instance, in October 2022, Bloomberg projected a 100% chance of a recession within twelve months. Not only did a recession fail to materialize, but markets also rose significantly. Investors who acted on that forecast likely incurred costly mistakes. Numerous similar instances demonstrate how financial forecasts often miss the mark entirely.
Unlike economic and market predictions, my forecast is both dependable and grounded in enduring investment principles and investor behavior. These elements are far more reliable than market outcomes and, ultimately, more crucial to an investor’s success.
Our 2025 Predictions
In full transparency, you’ve heard all of this before:
• The economy and markets will do something unexpected that surprises both us and the experts.
• The financial media will continue to thrive by sensationalizing headlines and short-term market fluctuations to capture your attention. It’s classic clickbait.
• Investors who frequently tune into the news and scrutinize their portfolio performance will experience more stress and anxiety than those who don’t.
• Investing in the stock market will occasionally be uncomfortable. Historically, the market declines on roughly half of all trading days.
• Investors who move to cash while waiting for a “better time” will endure significant uncertainty and anxiety about when and how to re-enter the market.
• Your investment decisions and reactions to market events will have a significant impact on your long-term returns.
• You will be tempted to alter your investment strategy based on market movements, expert opinions, or personal beliefs about the future.
Conviction, patience, and discipline are virtues every investor must cultivate. These qualities are not easy to develop, but they are essential for long-term success. As your advisors, one of our key responsibilities is to help you tune out the noise and focus on what truly matters to your financial well-being.
Stay relentless,
